Wearable and Durable Paper Jewelry
Yes, this elegant jewelry is wearable and very durable. Materials include hand-folded paper with glass and silver beads, organza ribbon and gold/ silver plated clasps. Origami paper is double treated with acrylic for extra durability.
I am interested in the way traditional origami shapes can be transposed in non-traditional venues and across cultures. For example, my first necklace, "Wings of Peace" consisted of multiple strings of tiny cranes strung like Navajo fetish necklaces. I have also created various unique paper jewelry inspired by the squash blossom motif and the art deco movement.
I often utilize non-traditional materials in my work, such as recycled comic books and magazines.
Necklaces are available in single, double or triple strands in a variety of colors, patterns and lengths. Matching earrings are also available.
